Downward Dog is a staple in most Yoga Classes, even beginners classes, which implies that it is somehow "easy" or accessible to most. However, Downward Dog requires pretty big ranges of motion at the shoulders, hips and ankles and if we don't have the strength and mobility in these places our bodies will look for it elsewhere - sore wrists anyone?!
Even though we don't need to make our downward look a particular way we do want it to be supportive and we want it to provide positive input to our tissues. This class is designed to help you build the strength and mobility that will allow you to achieve your perfect downward facing dog so that it truly does become a rest pose.
Enjoy!
P.S. to achieve strength and mobility for your perfect dog return to this class or aspects of it over time - remember building strength requires repetition and gradual progression.
